How To Use

Interactive relief map

Where does it hurt?

Tap the area you feel it most and we will show you which side of the Tri-Aid to use, where to place it, and how we release that muscle.

Before you start

Tri-Aid is a self-massage tool for everyday muscle tension. Start gently, let comfort be your guide rather than pushing for intensity, and have a chat with your GP or practitioner first if any of the situations below apply to you.

Read the safety information Hide the safety information

Check with your practitioner first if you

  • Have had a recent neck or back injury, or any spinal surgery, fusion or hardware
  • Have osteoporosis, osteopenia or reduced bone density
  • Have rheumatoid arthritis or another inflammatory arthritis, particularly in the neck
  • Have a condition associated with joint instability or hypermobility
  • Take blood thinners, or have a bleeding or clotting disorder
  • Have a history of stroke, TIA, arterial dissection or significant cardiovascular disease
  • Have a current or past cancer diagnosis
  • Have reduced sensation in the area, including from diabetes or nerve damage
  • Have lymphoedema, or have had lymph nodes removed
  • Have a history of deep vein thrombosis
  • Are pregnant or recently postpartum
  • Have an implanted device near the area, such as a shunt, port, pump or stimulator
  • Are currently unwell, feverish, or have an active infection

Stop and seek advice if you notice

  • Sharp, shooting or electric pain, or pain travelling into an arm or leg
  • Pins and needles, numbness, tingling or burning
  • Dizziness, lightheadedness or feeling faint
  • Any change to your vision, including blurring or double vision
  • Slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, or numbness or weakness in your face
  • Nausea
  • A sudden or severe headache, or a headache unlike any you have had before
  • Bruising, or tenderness that is still building the next day
  • Any symptom that gets worse rather than better

Do not use it

  • On the front or sides of your throat
  • Directly over bone rather than muscle, including the bumps of the spine
  • Over broken skin, cuts, grazes, burns, rashes, sunburn or recent scars
  • Over bruises, swelling, or anywhere hot, red or inflamed
  • Over any lump, mole or skin change you do not have an explanation for
  • Over varicose veins
  • On children, or by anyone under 16 without adult supervision
  • While driving, or anywhere you could fall
  • If the device is cracked, split or damaged in any way

If you develop sudden symptoms affecting your speech, vision, face or balance, seek urgent medical attention. These are not expected with normal use and are not something to work through.

Tri-Aid is a self-massage tool and is not a substitute for medical care. If you have pain that is persistent, severe, worsening, waking you at night, or new and unexplained, please see your GP.

Front view

How to use it, whichever side you are on

1 Locate

Find the area of tightness or tension you want to target.

2 Position

Place the Tri-Aid beneath the target muscle on a flat surface such as the floor, lounge or bed.

3 Relax

Allow your body weight to slowly settle into the tool and breathe deeply.

4 Hold

Hold for 30 to 60 seconds and repeat as needed.

Reminders

  • Aim for firm pressure you can breathe through, never pain
  • Avoid direct pressure over bones and joints
  • Do not exceed 90 seconds on any one spot
  • Give an area a day before working it hard again
  • Stop if sharp pain, numbness, tingling or dizziness occurs
